What We Do
People often ask us what we do. Are we managers, producers, entrepreneurs?
In reality, we are a bit of each. We don't like to pigeon-hole ourselves because we approach management and production as entrepreneurial pursuits, and we rely heavily on a broad knowledge of media and entertainment in everything we do.
This approach is a distinction from "old school" entertainment managers and producers who tend to restrict themselves to genres. We feel that our "wide glance" is a defining characteristic and strength.
Our Methodology and Approach
1. Find. Identify a person, property or company we want to work with, mostly through referral. At that point, we have a project.
2. Analyze. Where a prospective creator or project fits into the various possibilities for production and distribution. Depending on the type of project, this phase is most effective when starting with a broad view of media, looking at all the possibilities before perfecting the plan, and identifying the healthiest starting point. Sometimes it's obvious, other times it takes more thought and research.
3. Develop. What does the project need before it goes forward? Do we have the right partners or attachments? Can we answer all the questions a buyer or audience will inevitably ask? Everyone saves a lot of time if you hold and prepare until the project is ready.
4. Distribute/Sell. We are not sales agents, but because of our broad network of contacts we often support the sales effort. Sometimes that involves attaching an agent. In other cases we've been more directly involved, from helping to raise money for a startup, to assisting pitching a project to a TV network or studio, and direct involvement in finance negotiations.
5. Activate. Once the pieces are in place, we ensure that the team is assembled and retained, and we oversee the creation of the project, making sure that the team and all of the parties work toward the same goal.
Occasionally we share our thoughts through written reports. An example is a report we did on syndication, click here.
